Diamond Blvd. Playground Join us on Monday, July 12th at 10 am at the Diamond Blvd. Playground in Southmont for a playground play-date (weather permitting). Pack a picnic and a blanket and join us for lunch at noon! All playground dates are weather permitting. Kids Camp @ Jumonville CALLING ALL KIDS!!! This summer we will be heading off to Jumonville for camp on July 14th - 17th. All children who have completed second through sixth grades are invited to attend. Our days will be filled with lots of great camp activities, campfires, hiking, swimming, crafts and lots more!! We will spend time each day learning more about the Bible and ways we can grow to be more like Jesus. we will have an informational meeting in June for more specific details. Tony's Subs Join us on Thursday, July 15th at 10:30 am as we tour Tony's Subs in Roxbury! We will tour the store and the kitchen and children will have the opportunity to make their own min-sub followed by a yummy dessert!! There is no cost for this event. Children's Museum We will meet on Tuesday, July 20th at 10 am for a fun-filled morning at the Johnstown Children's Museum in Cambria City. We have reserved a room for lunch - pack your lunch and join us!! The cost is $5 for kids and $6 for adults. Pre-Teen Bowling @ Pre-teens coming out of 3rd through 6th grads are invited to this event. We will be meeting at Richland Lanes on Scalp Avenue on Wednesday, July 21st from 6 to 8 pm for bowling and a fun time! The cost is $6 per person and it includes bowling, shoe rental, pizza and a drink. Parents, this event will be chaperoned - you can drop-off and pick-up your children if you wish. Hiking @ Stackhouse Park (Westmont) We will meet at the Luzerne Street entrance (to the right of West Hills Police / Fire Department across from Westmont Middle School), weather permitting on Thursday, August 5th at 10:30 am. Pack a lunch. We will hike through the trail and have a picnic at the stream. Please arrive on time so you don't get left behind! Slinky Action Zone Be prepared to have a Slinky great time! We will meet at the church and ride out together in the church van to the Slinky Action Zone in Altoona! The van will leave the church on Wednesday, August 11th at 10:05 so please be prompt so we don't leave without you. The cost for admission to the soft play area, two slices of pizza and a drink is $6. Bring extra money if you wish to purchase other food or purchase tokens for the other arcade games available. Pre-Teen Back To School Lock-In All students in 3rd through 6th grade are invited to attend our first ever pre-teen lock-in on Friday, August 27th at 7 pm into Saturday morning, August 28th at 7 am!!! It will be a fun night filled with great friends, crazy games, lots of food and more!! Bring your friends as we get the school-year started off right!!! JAM will be held on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Wednesdays, and Children's Choir will be held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month. Godly Play OUMC participates in the Godly Play Program for children ages 4 through 3rd grade. On Sunday mornings at the 8:30 & 11:00 am services, children leave the Sanctuary following the Children's Sermon and travel to the Godly Play room, where they are greeted by a Team Member who helps the children "Get Ready" to enter the worship center. Godly Play uses a style of storytelling that allows the children to encounter God & experience God and to respond to the stories of God. Kid's Camp During the summer, the Kids Camp Ministry Team sponsor a trip to Jumonville. The week-long experience for children includes hiking, swimming, games and crafts, and teaching sessions. The purpose of the Kids Camp week is to help nurture children in their faith and lead them towards a deeper relationship with Christ as well as building stronger relationships with adults and children from the church body. Child Care OUMC offers the Child Care Ministry to provide a safe, happy environment for infants and toddlers so that parents are able to worship without worry. Care of the youngest at OUMC is available in a "nursery" like setting and staffed by Child Care workers who have Act 33 and Childline Child Abuse clearances on file. A sign-in system is also used for the safety of the children. Currently, a pager system is used that allows the parent to be notified if their child needs them. Baby Beginnings For those 2 years of age and under, a new Sunday School Class is being offered. The class will meet in the infant nursery from 10:00 - 10:45 am. The curriculum that will be used is titled "Baby Beginnings" from Gospel Light which will nurture your little ones physically, emotionally and spiritually through music, stories and play. This is a unique way to introduce babies and toddlers to Jesus! The class will be taught by Becky & Ken Ressler. Children's Sermon Each Sunday, a special Children's Sermon is presented at the 8:30 & 11:00 am services. This sermon is geared for the youngest of ages and often includes visual presentations or inter-action by the children. Bedtime
Story Hour Bedtime Story Hour is held several times a year and is a fun time for children 2 years old through 2nd Grade. Children are invited to come dressed in their pajamas and then they listen to several stories read by some of the older children and adults from OUMC. There is also food or snacks and sometimes, other activities such as crafts. It's a fun time for the children as well as those who help out in this ministry.
