"Be The Miracle"

The Oakland UM church family completed a 40 day campaign called "Be The Miracle" on Sunday, May 25th, 2008 where over 20 small groups met on a weekly basis to share, work, worship and pray together.  Sunday morning worship services at 8:30 & 11:00 were special times for the church body to come together as one.  The services included inspiring messages, special music, children's ministry, drama, dance and more.  The 40 Days of Community started off with a festive "kick-off" Sunday and ended up with a Celebration Sunday.  Those Sunday's included additional elements in the worship service and refreshments between services where everyone could fellowship with one another.  As part of the "Be The Miracle" campaign, each small group has chosen one or more community outreach projects to be involved in.  Some of the groups have decided to continue meeting after the 40 Days as small groups while others have committed to making their outreach projects on-going.  Some of the projects chosen by the groups included:

Outreach Project
Collected items for United Methodist Human Services Food Pantry

Collection of materials for upcoming Mission Trip to Peru

Fix up porch area for "Bridge of Hope" Ministries

Helping Elderly and Seniors on various "handyman" type projects.
